Artist talk by Chikako Watanabe
Amsterdam based Japanese artist Chikako Watanabe is commissioned by the Noseden Artline to present a new work at this biennial art festival which is centered around the Noseden Railroad. Watanabe will focus on Myoken Mountain, the end destination of the railroad. This mountain straddles Hyogo, Kyoto and Osaka. As part of her participation was the artist talk at Kyoto Seika University on June 29th. Subject of the artist talk was “A journey to meet the stars seers: Artscape, Amsterdam, and Mount Myōken”.
About Chikako Watanabe
The consistent theme of Chikako Watanabe’s art is local communication. The purpose of her projects is to stimulate social interaction and to create new communication opportunities for people within modern society. Small questions and curiosity for daily life are her prime inspiration.
Watanabe’s art objects are to be used as communication tools. She creates installations using a variety of materials and means of expression, including film.
