The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto (MoMAK), in collaboration with the Kyoto Costume Institute (KCI), is organizing an exhibition titled Dress Code: Are you playing fashion?, scheduled to be held in MoMak from August 9 to October 14, 2019, as well as in the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto from December 8, 2019 to February 23, 2020.
As a highlight of the exhibition, long-term photographic project Photo Notes 1992-2019 by the Dutch-born Mr. Hans Eijkelboom is included, documenting people’s clothing on the street and showing both the variety and similarity of their own wearing style. Through the gaze of the photographer, we will be able to notice the gaze toward the fashion of/from others.

Amsterdam based Japanese artist Chikako Watanabe is commissioned by the Noseden Artline to present a new work at this biennial art festival which is centered around the Noseden Railroad. Watanabe will focus on Myoken Mountain, the end destination of the railroad. This mountain straddles Hyogo, Kyoto and Osaka. As part of her participation is the artist talk at Kyoto Seika University on June 29th. Subject of the artist talk is “A journey to meet the stars seers: Artscape, Amsterdam, and Mount Myōken”.
Villa Kujoyama organized Forum Design Kyoto in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy, acting as a satellite event to the Paris Design Forum that was held from 16 to 18 November in Paris. Through a series of keynote lectures and an incubation session, speakers provided ideas on how to innovate and shape urban environments.
For the second event in the collaboration between Villa Kujoyama and the Dutch embassy, they presented a series of short and dynamic presentations highlighting different aspects of Artist in Residence, entitled ‘Networks + Artworks’ on Thursday 7 February.
